IN STOCK: AURIS APOTHECARY
The CRUCIAL BLAST shop has just partnered with the amazing Auris Apothecary imprint to feature a big stack of LPs, 7"s, Cassettes, Pro CDR, and "unplayable" Art Objects from their back catalog, some new, some older, but ALL intriguing, intense, often baffling excursions into extreme music / sound, "samizdat" recordings, and occasional, unique Dada-esque "art items".
I've been following this label since its beginning, and have always been fascinated with Auris Apothecary's specific curated aesthetic and willingness to delve into the depths of outre music and absurdist, sometimes provocative projects. An example of this from the early days of the label was the "Glass Torn And War Shortage" anti-cassette from Mike IX Williams (EYEHATEGOD), which presented a cassette tape of spoken word poetry/prose and harsh noise from Williams, the tape completely encrusted in broken glass. The art geek in me LOVED this item (and cherish it in my own collection) while simultaneously finding it infuriating, hehe. Which is the whole point. Plenty of Auris Apothecary releases are less immediately dangerous, though, with terrific album releases from everything from the experimental, unapologetically political anarcho black metal of BOOK OF SAND's "Postmodern Witchcraft" to the far-ranging electronic intensity of Dante Augustus Scarlatti's various works, and the titanic metallic Midwestern noise-rock / sludge battery of Medusa's "Divine Malice". I love all of this stuff.
The Auris Apothecary releases will be added to the Crucial Blast Shop (crucialblastshop.net) in a few weeks, after the new next upcoming "New Arrivals" list.
