CRUCIAL BLAST LABEL AND SHOP UPDATE: 9.30.09

Greetings-

Bunch of updates from the CRUCIAL BLAST compound this week.

First off, if you've preordered the new GNAW THEIR TONGUES Dread Magnificence shirt that we've had available for preorder on www.crucialblast.net, your order shipped out on Monday, and you should have yer goods in yer hands within the next few days. The shirts came out GREAT, it's one of my favorite Crucial Blast shirt designs so far. Thanks to everyone that has ordered this design.

Subarachnoid Shirts are shipping out shortly, the films for the shirts had be redone by the printer last week so we're running behind with these, but they should be shipping to us any day now, and we'll be mailing all Subarach shirt and package orders the same day that they arrive.

Subarachnoid Space are making their way down the East Coast on the second leg of their current US tour, and if you have a chance to see them play your burg, definitely don't pass it up. I went up to Philly this past Saturday to see the band play at Kung Fu Necktie, and while it was a super small show (and ridiculously early, due to the venue's dance music event taking place at 10pm), Subarachnoid Space thoroughly melted my brain with a powerful half-hour set of crushing acid-metal and improvised effects blowouts that achieved jet-engine resonance at times. So great! And their tourmates Ovo were nothing to sniff at, either; I've been waiting years to see these two Italian freaks in the flesh, and Ovo delivered the weirdness in grand form with a short but crushing set that was made up of mostly material off of their new album on Load (total Yoko Ono meets Melvins art sludge) that was offset with some droneological messing about and a few minutes of Stefania bowing her dreadlocks while drummer Bruno sat on the floor, looking like he was about to commit seppeku at any moment. Very cool people, too, as were the Subarachnoid folks - again, don't miss out on this tour!

In the BIG NEWS department, Crucial Blast's favorite PDX riffthugs Black Elk have been personally invited by Jesus Lizard to accompany them on four of the Lizard's West Coast dates this month. I'm freaking ecstatic that a) Black Elk are appreciated to this extent by a band of such stature, we're talking about one of the greatest underground rock bands of the past two decades, and b) that their music will hopefully turn on a whole new audience at these shows. No matter what, these shows promise to be spectacles of debauched aggression and total riff fury.
Here's when they are going down:

10/15/2009 Henry Fonda Theatre - Los Angeles, CA w/ The Jesus Lizard, Black Elk
10/17/2009 The Fillmore - San Francisco, CA w/ The Jesus Lizard, Black Elk
10/22/2009 Crystal Ballroom - Portland, OR w/ The Jesus Lizard, Black Elk
10/23/2009 Neumo's - Seattle, WA w/ The Jesus Lizard, Black Elk.

Black Elk will be heading over to Europe for their first-ever tour of ye olde country directly following these dates; look below for the full skinny on their tour.

Also on the road on the West Coast: Totimoshi, who have a handful of shows in October, including one in LA with Subarachnoid Space. Look below for the details.

The webstore has been updated with a bunch of new releases and restock, the new arrivals list is online now at www.crucialblastshop.net and you can see some of what we have to offer below...

And with the recent switch in distributors that we just made this summer (which has Crucial Blast now exclusively distributed by Revolver USA, in such esteemed company as Neurot, Young God, Alternative Tentacles, Robotic Empire, 20 Buck Spin and Profound Lore), we've had to take in some older stock that frankly we don't have room for in the Crucial Blast warehouse. Thus, prices have been dropped on a bunch of our older releases from 2007 on back, with some titles under $5! It's a perfect opportunity for any of you collectors to fill in those holes in the C-Blast corner in your music library.

That's it for this week. As always, thanks for reading and using Crucial Blast for your mutant metal/noise fix...stay tuned for another update and new arrivals list in about another two!

CRUCIAL BLAST WEBSTORE: NEW ARRIVALS FOR WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH
The featured release this week is the new Yoga album Megafauna, out on Holy Mountain. If you heard their split with Ghast from last year, then you are no doubt as enamoured with this enigmatic band's blend of hallucinatory psychedelic murk, Gobliny film score creepiness and damaged black metallish heaviness as I am.
